He was constable, Justice of the Peace, deputy sheriff, sheriff and superintendent of the state arsenal in Elizabethtown (Essex County), N. Y. He was regarded as a natural detective.

(One Ancestry family tree suggests two daughters, but that is totally unsubstantiated.)
