He d. 20 Sep. 1882 in Elizabethtown; she d. there 20 Apr. 1894.

He was constable, Justice of the Peace, deputy sheriff, sheriff and superintendent of the state arsenal in Elizabethtown (Essex County), N. Y. He was regarded as a natural detective.

Preston, b. 1812 in Ireland; he was an attorney and counselor at law, admitted to practice in April 1868; was justice of the peace, town clerk, undersheriff, jailor and supervisor, and had been the District Attorney of Essex Co.; he d. 23 Feb 1923 and she d. 1929, both in Elizabethtown; had no children. (One Ancestry family tree suggests two daughters, but that is totally unsubstantiated.)
