An alternative is that he died in Peacham, the same date, which is evidenced by the Vermont Death record; however, that could be a close the loop exercise, or be only because a memorial stone was placed in the cemetery. That stone provides the best evidence for the Cal. death, as it states "DIED In Cala". California death in 1850 suggests that he may have participated in the 1849 Gold Rush.
